About Autorentwiz: car rental experts for Italy
Hello and welcome to Autorentwiz, a discount car rental booking website with free help from car rental experts! I am Simas, a car rental expert from Lithuania! From 2018 I worked as head of car rental at ADCRent. It was a fairly small company based in Vilnius airport, Lithuania and at its peak we had 150 cars to rent.
The company won multiple customer favourite awards from international platforms such as Rentalcars and Discovercars and customer satisfaction was the main selling point of ADCRent. During the pandemic the company transformed into a platform and was finally sold off by the end of 2024.
At the beginning of 2023 I started consulting travellers on social media regarding car rental questions. Since Discovercars proved to be the most reliable and customer-focused partner during my time with ADCRent, I ended up joining their affiliate programme and used them to organise car rental deals for travellers, tailored to their needs. As the number of messages increased, I decided to start Autorentwiz, a website where travellers book a rental car at a discount and get free advice from someone who has worked behind the rental desk. Currently I am the only car rental expert here, but I really hope that in the future we will have a big team! 🙂
My values as a car rental expert
I always feel enormous responsibility when taking care of travellers’ car rental requests, because this is their holiday we are talking about! We all crave to see the world and bring back home great memories and I am always honoured that people trust me with this task.
At ADCRent I learned that the most important thing in the car rental business is to be ready to help your clients at any stage of the process:
- Before the booking. How can people easily reach us without having to wait for an answer?
- During their holidays. How can we make sure that our customers can have the most stress free journey?
- After return of the car. How can we reassure the customer that everything was alright after they returned the car?
This isn’t rocket science and our decisions and actions were fairly simple too. If we overcomplicate things ourselves then it is very likely that the customer will receive some of those complications as well. For example, we greeted our clients with a free bottle of water, our cars had phone chargers and phone holders and we had an automatic email informing the client that their rental car was returned and checked successfully.

This one can work wonders at any location and at any time. Ask your car rental agent at the counter what kind of cars they currently have for you to choose from. Car rental companies use ACRISS (The Association of Car Rental Industry System Standards) car classification codes to distinguish different car manufacturers and their models into broad categories. For example, if you book an Economy class car with 4-5 doors and manual unspecified drive the code for that car will be EDMR. There can be a dozen different cars which can fall into this category. This is great, because rental companies like to prepare their cars for rent ahead of time meaning that when you come to pick up your car, there will often be more than one car for you to choose from!

No. We do not own cars. Autorentwiz is a discount car rental booking website: you book a rental company car through our search, and your rental contract is with that company. We also check that the deposit and card rules fit you, and help if anything goes wrong at the desk.

Yes. Locauto accepts a debit card with no deposit, only a symbolic 0,01 EUR authorisation at pick-up, and Alamo, Maggiore, Sixt and Centauro accept debit cards too. The card must be a physical Visa or Mastercard in the main driver’s name, and some debit card offers require the rental company’s own insurance at the desk, so check the offer’s terms or message us.
Yes. Pay the deposit with a debit card, or choose a no-deposit offer: Automania needs no card at all at Palermo, Catania, Trapani, Naples, Bari and Pisa. Tell us which card you have and we only send offers that accept it.
Yes, at most Italian airports we cover. Locauto asks for no deposit, only a symbolic 0,01 EUR authorisation on your card at pick-up, and it accepts debit cards. Automania also offers rentals with no deposit at Palermo, Catania, Trapani, Naples, Bari and Pisa.
Usually yes. Basic cover is included, but you still pay the excess if the car is damaged or stolen. Full coverage bought online with your booking is the cheapest way to cover it: it works by refund, and the deposit is still blocked. The rental company’s own insurance at the desk removes the excess directly but costs the most.
